For 60 years, the Lithuanian American Club (Club) in St. Petersburg, Florida
has been providing its members, visitors and guests with ethnic cultural activities, social events and banquets serving Lithuanian cuisine and similar meals. Club is now accepting applications for a new cook to manage and operate all meal preparation and presentation for members and guests. Club operates in its own free-standing building which includes two event halls, a small bar and a full catering kitchen.
Generally, the meals are served "buffet" style with volunteer club members assisting with the meal service.
The job is considered part-time with the following estimated projection of annual events:

The job is considered part-time with the following estimated projection of annual events:
- 20-25 Sunday afternoon "simple" dinners with attendance from 50/60 (Summer months) to 150/200 (Winter months). 5 or 6 "special" events/commemorations/celebrations, etc. with more complex menus and possible higher attendance
- Working with Club directors to determine menus for Sunday dinners
- Buying all food and condiments for meal preparation
- Preparing and cooking meals for 50 to 250 attendees
- Cleaning all cooking and food preparation equipment
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Proven experience as cook for large groups
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Knowledge of Lithuanian cuisine preparation is ideal, but not required. However, preference will be given to applicants with some level of experience and knowledge of similar cuisines: Polish, Ukrainian, etc. (Some training will be available).
- Legal status to work in the United States
- Club will encourage applicants who wish to operate their own, separate and private catering operation
- The Club catering kitchen is not used other than for LAC events, and is available most days for such a catering operation for a fee. Reasonable terms can be negotiated with interested applicants for use of the catering kitchen
- Such a catering operation would be required to be properly licensed and insured.
- Additionally, members who attend events at LAC will order "Take-Out" meals by arrangement with the cook.
- For Club events, tickets are sold by Club Directors to attendees for meals.
- Negotiated portions of meal tickets are split between the Club and Cook.
- Net earning potential is difficult to project, but it could be in the range of $12,000 to $16,000 (after expenses) for LAC events only. This is a conservative estimate.
